CCRC Members,
As the individual schools release timelines and plans for this fall, the CCRC board members acknowledge that the traditional way of conducting a conference schedule is not possible. Based upon this we have decided to suspend conference play and championships for the fall semester. Practice and other athletically related activities at member institution's campuses are permitted in accordance with their schools guidelines as well as state and local health and safety guidelines.
The CCRC board members have also discussed the second half of the 2020-2021 academic year with the safety and well-being of students and campus communities as its top priority. Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic presents significant challenges to our campuses and communities, the CCRC continues to support institutional autonomy regarding both plans to re-open campuses and the potential of participating in club rugby. You may have noticed that your school did not receive an invoice for the upcoming year on July 1. We have decided to hold off on membership dues because of the current pandemic and the unknown of the situation. If there is a spring season, your team will receive a discounted invoice.
The CCRC board members understand the disappointment that comes with this announcement and will continue to work together to provide meaningful athletic opportunities to support our rugby programs, in conjunction with state and local health and safety guidelines. If conference scheduling were to resume, it would not happen before January 1, 2021.
I hope everyone is staying safe, please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Keith Cattanach
CCRC Commissioner
