Umass Amherst D1 Women's Coach
The UMass Amherst Women’s Rugby Football Club (UMWRFC) is looking for a head coach.
Who We Are: The UMWRFC is a Registered Student Organization at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, run by students on the team. We are a D1 team, playing in the Northeast Conference. Practices are generally 4-5 times a week in the fall semester, and 3-5 times a week in the spring semester. Practices are mainly in the evenings, with occasional morning practices. The fall semester consists of league and non-league games, while the spring semester consists of 7s and 15s tournaments. Possible coaches must be flexible when it comes to the uncertainty of the Fall 2020 season due to Covid-19.
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Part time job ($25/hr with a cap at $2,500 a semester)
- Start in Fall 2020 season and continue into Spring 2021 (practices start in the last week of August for Fall season and late February for Spring season)
- Will be working closely with Captains to create practice plans and lineups
- Major decisions will involve the coach, Captains, and the Executive Board (comprised of students on the team)
- Set up stations/drills for practice with the help of the Captains
- Recording attendance during warm-ups
- Manage substitutions during games
- Provide constructive criticism during practice and games
- Ensure players’ safety at all times
Required Qualifications:
- Level 200 certification
- Pass CORI check
- Availability in the Fall and Spring semesters
- Attend all games
- Attend at least 3 practices a week
- Flexibility between morning/night practice
- Respectful
- Strong cooperation and team working skills
- Maintain a strong level of professionalism
- Strong communication skills
- Motivational
- Positive attitude
- Ability to quickly and effectively explain drills and plays
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 2-3 years of previous coaching experience
- College and/or high school level coaching experience
